A New Adventure // Celia + Scott

Celia and Scott are both from East Coast states but met at work in Colorado where they both currently live.  They were inseparable right from the start.  A loyal friendship quickly blossomed into love and a few years later, an engagement (to the eagerness and anticipation of friends and family!).

Scott’s proposal was textbook romance.  He coordinated the big event to take place on Celia’s birthday, which also happens to be Valentine’s Day, complete with a candle light dinner and gifts.  He asked her to close her eyes as she opened each gift and upon opening the last gift, Scott was on his knee.  It was the ring and, of course, Celia said ‘yes’!

On their beautiful wedding day, the entire bridal party got dressed and ready at The Molly Pitcher Inn in Red Bank, NJ.  Celia and Scott chose a divine yellow and blue color scheme for their wedding day.  Her bridesmaids wore matching strapless gowns in dark blue and carried such pretty bouquets by Conroy’s Florist in white and yellow, while Celia’s lovely bouquet stood apart in all white.  Celia’s niece and flower girl acted as messenger to deliver cards to Celia and Scott that each wrote for the other.  They were so thoughtfully written with beautiful sentiments that expressed their love for each other.

Then it was time to dress for the special affair!  Celia wore such a gorgeous strapless gown with an intricate beaded detail throughout the entire dress.  She added a sheer bolero and a long veil for the ceremony and wore her hair in a romantic, loose updo.  Simply stunning!  Scott and his groomsmen sported classic black tuxedos and… we need to find out where Scott got those patent leather shoes!  They’re incredible!

Before traveling to the church, Celia and Scott participated in a first look.  No one could keep from smiling at the big reveal as the couple laughed so honestly, a true joy and excitement pouring out for the day’s events ahead!

Celia and Scott’s ceremony took place at the Church of Saint Catharine in Holmdel, NJ.  In the words of their officiant, the Reverend Monsignor Brietske, all those who gathered there to witness their marriage ceremony rejoiced with them on that beautiful day.  They were sure to include Filipino traditions such as having a Coin Bearer (in this case, two Coin Bearers) as well as, among others, the Principal and Secondary Sponsors and the Couple’s Veil ceremony, an allegorical gesture which symbolizes the two being “clothed as one” in unity.  It was wonderful to hear Celia’s mother describe each tradition as it took place there at the altar.  At the conclusion, everyone waved blue and yellow streamers to celebrate the new Mr. and Mrs.!

It was a pleasure to work alongside Alfonso from Photography by Alfonso during their photo shoots throughout this wedding event. It was then time for the reception, held at the Conservatory located at The Madison Hotel in Morristown, NJ.  This bright, cheery, light-filled space was overflowing with charming hanging baskets with trailing greenery and sunny yellow floral centerpieces.  The yellow and blue color scheme continued throughout and since the two love to travel, they incorporated reflections of travel in the décor.

After beautiful first dances between Celia and Scott and then with their parents, it was time to party!  DJay Jung played the hits that kept everyone dancing wildly! You could see that everyone truly had a blast all evening long! And kudos to Lavish Occasions for coordinating such a wonderful, successful wedding event.

Among so many other things at this wedding, we loved Celia’s sister’s toast where she described marriage in terms of playing the game of Scrabble.  Little words do matter, never forget to collaborate and always be sure to ‘play with heart’.  Congratulations and best wishes, Celia and Scott.
