“Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree” – Emily Bronte
We can’t believe fall is here already! As usual, the summer flew right by in the blink of an eye. There are lots of reasons to celebrate the new season though… the vibrant changing of the leaves, cooler weather, pumpkin spice everything, right?
And of course, autumn is such a beautiful time for weddings with so many exciting options out there for theming, décor items and color schemes. Let’s take a look at this year’s trends for fall weddings… and what better place to start than with those distinctive fall colors!
Cobalt and 'Marseille' blue, 'Barbiecore' pink and shades of lavender and lilac took over weddings for much of 2024, but for fall specifically, experts are saying couples will infuse terra cotta, mustard, brown, sand and apricot orange to their events. We should also look out for interesting combinations, such as orange and black, rust and navy blue, and burgundy, pink and navy together. Sounds exciting!
Several wonderful couples we filmed were ahead of the fall trends with their color choices. Take a look at the wedding of Leah and Noble at Westhampton Country Club with their gorgeous rich floral arrangements in apricot, burgundy and coral and their overall watercolor apricot color scheme. And Marissa and Dan chose a navy and burgundy palette with bright fuchsia, violet and burgundy florals for their wonderful October event at Ryland Inn. It was eye-catching and simply gorgeous!
The fall staples like gourds, haystacks, pumpkins and dried corn will still flourish, especially at rustic chic, farmhouse and barn wedding events. But be on the lookout also for fresh fruit displays (especially apples and berries), fluffy natural pampas grass, velvet fabrics, weathered wood, tarnished metals and woven elements, like seagrass, sisal and rattan.
More couples will serve pies in those fall flavors of pumpkin, pecan and apple, either as additional dessert options or even in lieu of a traditional wedding cake. Cocktail hours will include wonderful, fall-themed drinks like hot chocolate and warm apple cider. Bacon-wrapped dates and butternut squash soup make for perfect autumn appetizers. And caramel apples are a fun wedding snack we'll find at the end of the evening.
Bridal trends for the fall of 2024 (and anticipated for 2025) include drop waist gowns, corset bodices, dreamy, fairy tale elements (like ruffles and lace) especially in ball gowns and minimalist 'Nantucket' coastal-vibe gowns in satin or silk. And as for accessories, we'll see extra lovely, vibrant flower crowns.
So cozy up and bring on those fall weddings! We can’t wait to see what this harvest has in store for us!
