Head Over Heels // Margo + Deven

The plans may have changed a couple of times before the wedding day, but nothing was going to stop this couple, head over heels in love, from getting married on their chosen wedding date and truly making it a perfect day! It was such a unique and intimate event that really captured their personalities and loves. And we were so thankful to be able to share in and film their wonderful day.

When Margo, a graphic illustrator and designer, and Deven, a musician, met for the first time, they had the ideal traditional first date. Margo was even impressed at the end of the evening when Deven walked her home. The two artists clicked right away, and after that first date, they saw each other non-stop until Deven went back on tour.

Then in December 2018, the couple participated in the local holiday tradition of visiting Longwood Gardens to view the magnificent Christmas lights and garden display. They walked around in the cold air and took in the sights for a while, but Deven had another thing on his mind, and Margo caught him looking around for a quiet spot. He found a gazebo where they sat and held each other for warmth while admiring the decorated grounds. That’s when Deven got down on one knee and asked Margo to be his, forever. She said ‘yes!’ and removed her gloves so the ring could be slid onto her finger. Then, they called all their friends and family to give them the exciting news!

It rained lightly in the morning before stopping (for the most part!) on Margo and Deven’s wedding day, held right at the onset of the fall season. Margo and her bridesmaids got ready for the day’s events at the luxe Sofitel Philadelphia Hotel in center city. Her bridal party wore pretty floral robes, Margo’s all in white, as they had their hair and makeup perfected by the team from Blue Lotus Salon. Then, coordinating perfectly with the fall wedding theme colors, Margo’s bridesmaids dressed into their stunning long emerald green gowns.

Deven’s groomsmen, a group that included Deven’s fellow bandmates, all wore green ties to match while Deven sported a fine bolo tie and a velvet jacket for the occasion! And Margo and her bridal party’s bouquets from Terra Luna were so lovely in sepia tones of cream, golden brown and taupe, with lots of soft, sagey green accents.

Margo dressed into an amazing bohemian style gown with thin spaghetti straps and a very intricate beaded pattern. It featured a sheath silhouette that was fitted at her natural waist and a romantic full, gauzy skirt over the beadwork. In her hair, Margo wore an eye-catching cathedral length pink veil. She was so chic… and such gorgeous bride!

Once they were all dressed and ready, the two shared a touching first look on the grounds of the historic Washington Square in Philadelphia. We could practically reach out and touch the excitement in the air before Margo and Deven saw each other for the first time and shared a loving kiss. Following the first look was a photo shoot in the park, and it was such a pleasure to work alongside Jessica Flynn and her assistant at J. Flynn Photography as they took photos of the couple and bridal party that afternoon. And you could see how much fun everyone was having as they posed for formal and candid shots!

After photos were taken, it was time to head out for the ceremony! We all traveled to the Pennsylvania suburbs for Margo and Deven’s wedding ceremony, which was held outdoors in such a peaceful setting at a family member’s residence.

Margo and Deven’s ceremony took place along the edge of the treeline and was officiated by their close friend and lead singer for the band Deven is in, Michelle. We loved the message so much and how she said the two will love each other perfectly for a lifetime. And the readings were equally moving, with the rain references even more apropos on this day. The couple recited their vows and exchanged rings amid cute giggles then shared another kiss, making it official!

We were also there for their cocktail hour where some of the most amazing toasts we’ve heard were given in honor of the couple. They were equally touching and funny and really expressed the authentic love that Margo and Deven’s friends and family have for them, and the love they have for each other. And it was so fantastic too that many friends and family that couldn’t be there in person that day joined in on Zoom to celebrate with the happy couple!

This was such a beautiful wedding day and such a unique and deeply personal celebration of Margo and Deven’s love and devotion. We’re so happy we were able to join in for their celebration, to document their love and to see such amazing support from their family and friends. Congratulations, Margo and Deven!
