Genna and Scott met like so many, on an online dating app! It really is one of the best ways to find and connect with someone who shares so many of the same ideas, values and loves as you. And we discovered that Genna and Scott found a love of hiking in common, an interest that played a big role in Scott’s proposal.
And we loved Scott’s surprise proposal to Genna! Scott was away in Kodiak, Alaska and Genna flew there to meet him. On day three of their adventure, they hiked to Shelly Lake, an eight mile journey up Sharatin Mountain. Telling Genna that he wanted to recreate a favorite photo of theirs from a trip to Hawaii, he set his phone up for the shot. Genna thought he was setting the timer, but instead, he clicked to begin the video. Scott then ran to Genna, got down on one knee, and asked her to marry him with the serene lake and breathtaking mountain views behind them. Genna said, ‘yes’, of course!
Genna and Scott’s wedding day celebration was made even more special and even more fun because it was held on New Year’s Eve! They chose an all-in-one wedding event at The Ashford Estate in Allentown, New Jersey, getting ready, holding their ceremony and their reception all onsite. And they couldn’t have picked a better venue for this very special evening.
The couple got ready late that afternoon in separate suites at the Ashford. We’re so accustomed to arriving in the morning and filming with the morning’s natural light, so it definitely was extraordinary and really delightful to film bride and groom preparations with the sun getting ready to set! Scott and his groomsmen dressed into black tuxedos with white bow ties, all looking so dapper. And Genna’s bridal party coordinated with the wedding theme colors so perfectly, looking beautiful in their emerald green dresses.
With help from her mother, Genna then dressed into her amazing, satiny wedding ball gown. It had very delicate spaghetti straps, an open back design and a lovely square neckline. She wore her long hair down in gorgeous waves and had a long veil fastened to the back for the ceremony. Genna was absolutely breathtaking!
When everyone was all dressed and ready, we moved into the barn chapel for their beautiful ceremony. It was so personal and so sweet. We absolutely loved the very creative message outlining Genna and Scott’s lovely, personalized sentiments of love towards each other and the commitments they’re making.
Wedding photos took place afterwards with the team from The Studio Photographers. It was such a pleasure to work with them as they took those formal and candid photos of the couple and their wedding party. And during this fantastic photo shoot, the couple received a fun sparkler salute by their bridal party, too!
Genna and Scott’s reception in the Grand Ballroom kicked off with the most fun introductions ever! Who could forget the wedding party processional that went viral, and was later recreated by The Office cast in the wedding episode? Well, Genna and Scott’s wedding party nailed it! It was so much fun to see and so fabulous to film, too!
And the ballroom was decorated so beautifully with tall floral centerpieces in ivory by Magnolia Exquisite Florals & Event Décor. The flickering candlelight of the votives gave the space such a warm feeling. The newlyweds danced their first dance of the evening in this romantic setting, followed by sweet parent dances.
It was impossible to keep a dry eye as Genna’s father began his speech in tribute to his beautiful daughter, Genna and to his new son-in-law, Scott. And toasts were given by Scott’s best man and Genna’s maid of honor, friends who both provided such wonderful (and funny) examples of their relationship. Then dinner and dancing continued well into the night, as Be The Good Entertainment kept the wedding + holiday party going strong!
And of course, what would New Year’s Eve be without the countdown to the new year?! Everyone joined in as we rang in 2022, wishing all the love and happiness in the world to Genna and Scott. Congratulations to the sweet couple and may their love continue to grow stronger and more beautiful with every new year.
