This was a day we simply couldn’t wait for! Lisa, a fantastic filmmaker, and her sweet fiancé, Dan (known to his friends as Fim), were getting married! Lisa worked with us here at Cord 3 Films for several years but left to pursue her other love (caring for horses) and we miss her so very much. But we were thrilled to get to be a part of capturing her wedding day, a day that was so perfectly ‘Lisa and Dan’!
Lisa and Dan actually went to the same high school but they never spoke. Four or five years after graduation, they ran into each other at a Thanksgiving Eve party and Dan, maybe a little nervous, anxiously talked to Lisa for a very long time about his passion, baseball. Something sparked for both… and the following summer, the two started spending lots of time together and became an item. We all knew Lisa and Dan would be getting engaged soon and when she came home from working in Florida last February, Dan proposed at a delayed holiday party with all their close friends and family there to celebrate with them!
The weather was perfect on their October wedding day, and everything from morning preparations to the reception took place at the beautiful Eagle Manor in Fairfield Township, New Jersey. The whole event had a laid back atmosphere that really focused on friends, family and fun! That morning, Dan and much of the wedding party had a blast shooting sporting clays by the river before getting dressed and ready for the day.
Meanwhile, inside the mansion, Lisa put on her amazing wedding gown with help from her mother. Always beautiful, she wore a sleeveless, v-neck gown with a gorgeous lace overlay and lovely lace straps from Essense of Australia. Her dress featured a fit and flare silhouette and an open-back design that included illusion tulle for a peek a boo effect. It was perfect, with a subtle bohemian vibe so fitting for Lisa. She was so absolutely stunning!
Dan and his groomsmen looked very dapper wearing tan suits with rust-orange ties (Dan’s in a darker copper-brown color to stand apart) that matched the beautiful bridesmaids’ long gowns. Everyone simply loved the unique, rust-orange color of their dresses! And in their arms, they carried such beautiful white floral bouquets with greenery in a soft sage from Anton’s Florist.
Before their ceremony was set to begin, Lisa and Dan met up outside in the fields by the river for a first look. It was so sweet to watch their reactions as they saw each other for the first time that day… and kissed and hugged. And then, it was the perfect time for their photo sessions. They all had so much fun posing for photos for Petal & Glass Photography, and it was wonderful to work with their team on this special day as well. Lisa’s horse, also named Dan, visited for photos and Lisa and Dan’s cute little dog, Miles, even got in on the action! At the end of the photo session, Lisa and Dan presented Dan’s sister with one of two necklaces made from their late late father’s wedding ring, Dan wearing the other one, which brought tears to everyone’s eyes. It was such a thoughtful gift and a sweet moment. Be sure to check out this moment and more amazing photos from the day on Petal & Glass’ blog!
Lisa and Dan’s ceremony was held outside overlooking the river, and the rustic décor, including a branch podium, wooden arch draped with gauzy white fabric and flowers and living plants wrapped in burlap flanking the aisle, was spot on for their ‘country in the fall’ feeling wedding event. Their ceremony had moments that made us cry and moments that made us chuckle too! Dan’s best man did a wonderful job serving as the officiant for their marriage ceremony. Lisa and Dan recited their vows, exchanged rings and became husband and wife.
Then, it was time to celebrate at the reception! For this event, the interior of the historic dairy barn at Eagle Manor was decorated with white fabric encircling the posts, rust-orange linens and green garland draping across the long farm tables and market string lights suspended down along the rustic, exposed beam ceiling. It was so cozy and so perfect.
Lisa and Dan entered the reception room and danced their first beautiful dance as their friends and family looked on. We heard toasts from Dan’s best man, Matt, and Lisa’s maid of honor, Krista, that were filled with both touching and super funny moments! We laughed so hard when Krista let everyone know that she was party responsible for Lisa and Dan’s relationship and how Dan’s best man described his dedication during baseball competitions! Center Stage Entertainment kept everyone out on that dance floor all evening long… And it truly was such a fun party!
This was such a joyous day for all of us at Cord 3 Films as we watched Lisa marry the love of her life. We were so blessed to be a part of their wedding day to film and simply to celebrate with them and with their friends and family. We know Lisa and Dan will be happy together forever and we wish them all the love and joy in the world! Congratulations!
