As good friends of a couple whose Rhode Island wedding we filmed a couple of years earlier (and David was also a groomsman in their wedding!), Danielle and David reached out to us about a year ago to check our availability for their own wedding date. We were so thrilled that we indeed had their date free and had a wonderful conversation with Danielle about their fantastic wedding plans. As the months ticked by, we were so looking forward to their big day and excited to be traveling to the beautiful island of Nantucket for their event!
Danielle and David met in an unusual bar in the East Village of New York City… it’s a Boston sports bar (that also caters to University of Michigan fans as Tom Brady’s attendance forever links the two together)! David was there to watch a Celtics game, as David spent many summers in Cape Cod (and his dad was from Boston) and is a huge Boston sports fan. Danielle was there as a University of Michigan grad, celebrating with classmates on the day after finishing PT school. When David saw Danielle, he just knew he had to meet her. They started talking, exchanged numbers and the two have been linked ever since!
On the morning of their wedding, Danielle got ready in the Fair Wind Cottage at the luxurious Harborview Nantucket. Her maids of honor and bridesmaids dressed into dramatic black gowns in mismatched designs and Danielle and her bridal party carried such beautiful white bouquets created by Flowers on Chestnut. The black and white color scheme was so striking and sophisticated.
We loved how the guys first spent some time relaxing on the beach and soaking in the sun before getting dressed and ready… and it was so wonderful to see our former client/groom, Alex, in the party too! Afterwards, David and his groomsmen prepared for the wedding at Cliffside Beach Club. They all wore classic black tuxedos with black jackets for the ceremony (later, David would switch to an ivory dinner jacket for the reception, opting for the classic warm-weather black tie option). And David, in classic Nantucket style, went sans socks as well!
After reading beautifully penned cards and opening gifts that they had exchanged, the couple finished their wedding preparations. Danielle put on her wedding dress with some help from her bridal party. She wore a glamorous Carol Hannah gown with a deep V neckline and a sumptuous A-line silhouette. She had a long veil attached to the back of her hair for the ceremony and a lovely ribbon secured a soft, wispy ponytail at her reception. Danielle looked so elegant… simply stunning.
Once they were all dressed and ready, they traveled over to First Congressional Church for the wedding ceremony. This church is so lovely with its bright white walls and open, airy interior. Danielle walked down the aisle on the arm of her father and the joy was written all over David’s face as he saw his bride for the first time that day. Reverend Ruth Smalt gave a beautiful message, reminding us that “we are part of something larger, it’s a story of love… that invites us to jump in and become part of the story”. They recited their vows, exchanged rings and as the couple exited the church, all their friends and family tossed delicate white flower petals to celebrate!
Danielle and David then got into a white jeep decorated with streamers and a ‘Just Married’ sign and drove off to their photo shoot at Brant Point Lighthouse. It was fantastic to work with Zofia and Mark at Zofia & Co. as they took photos of the couple along the sandy beach and on the lighthouse’s rustic wooden walkway. Be sure to check out their blog where you’ll find beautiful photos from the day!
The summer’s day reception was held under a gorgeous white tent on a private residence near Abrams Point on the island. Needless to say, the waterside location had amazing harbor views. Graceful gauzy white fabric draped across the ceiling and beautiful chandeliers dripping with crystals helped to illuminate the evening. Everything was gorgeous and Maggie Stewart from Nantucket Island Events did a wonderful job in helping to plan and coordinate this perfect event!
Danielle and David arrived and danced a lovely first dance together to kick off the reception events. This was followed by a fun dance set and toasts. We absolutely loved Danielle’s father’s welcome speech and his present to her: one of her first baby shoes that he saved for this special day. It was so moving, as was the beautiful, personalized (and funny!) toasts from David’s brother and from Danielle’s two sisters. David himself then gave a wonderful thank you speech, voicing his love for Danielle and expressing his gratitude to everyone for sharing in their special day.
The reception then continued on with lively dancing and incredible music from Encore! Everyone had a ball on the dance floor, including the newlyweds who paused briefly to cut their amazing three-tiered semi-naked cake from Wildflour Nantucket. As the party continued, Danielle’s younger sister (who has fantastic talent as a singer) even belted out a song with the band!
This was such an incredible, perfect wedding event and the setting couldn’t have been more magical. We thank Danielle and David for letting us share in their phenomenal wedding day and wish them all the best in their life of love together.
